Balance — From Baby to Gymnast

Long before your baby crawls, stands, or walks, an essential system is already developing — the foundation of balance and coordinated movement.

The beginning of the inner sense of balance

Level 01 — 07

The Foundation of Balance and Movement

In everyday family life, the balance system is gently supported through lifting, rocking, and carrying. What is often not recognised is that within these simple interactions, your child’s ability to balance is steadily developing.

Simple games — holding, hugging, carrying, and gentle movement

The brain begins to organise posture, movement, and spatial awareness

Babies enjoy being lifted, gently swayed, carried, and moved through space

Balance does not begin with standing — it develops long before the first step

Exploring movement with joy

Level 02 — 07

Movement Becomes Part of Daily Rhythm

More reach, more turning, more gentle effort to explore what the body can do. Simple, enjoyable games created beautiful opportunities for movement that felt safe, natural, and happy.

Games from Level 1 continue, with a few new ones introduced

What looks like play gives the nervous system repeated balance experiences

Even small extensions of play lead to noticeable changes

More confidence, more strength, more coordination — naturally

Balance and the developing brain

Level 03 — 07

Movement Supporting the Whole Brain

At Level 3, focus is not simply on muscles or physical skill — it is on the developing brain. Lifting, rising, returning — a natural delight that provides clear information to the inner ear, muscles, and senses.

Games become a little more active, remaining just as simple and safe

Movement while feeling safe, supported and close to you

Balance development becomes part of the whole child’s development

Growing confidence in movement

Level 04 — 07

Walking Becomes Steadier — Movement More Assured

Steps become quicker. The beginning of running, turning, and exploring with a new sense of freedom. The same simple balance games continued — their familiarity allowing the child to move with ease while gently extending what was already known.

Balance steadier, movement more controlled, exploration more confident

No need to replace familiar games — repetition deepens capability

Foundations from earlier levels support each new step forward

Development unfolds through connections shared

Expanding balance through playful exploration

Level 05 — 07

Balance Found Across Many Small Experiences

Movement begins to feel more open and expressive. Balance is no longer tied to a single type of play — it is found across many small experiences throughout the day. Movement becomes more fluid, adjustments quicker, confidence grows from within.

A step across uneven ground, a turn, a climb, a moment of dancing

Swimming, dancing, and climbing — all supported by early foundations

Movement repeated often enough to become known by the body

The connection between parent and child deepens through shared movement

Balance becomes confidence

Level 06 — 07

The Brain Integrating Many Streams at Once

Balance is no longer simply remaining upright. The brain now integrates vision, touch, gravity, rhythm and spatial awareness simultaneously. Climbing, jumping, rolling, riding, skating, and dancing all strengthen these neural networks.

Fast games develop agility and reaction speed

Slow games develop poise, awareness and control

Horse riding — rhythm, movement and balance in a joyful natural setting

A child who loves movement and trusts their body

Confidence, courage and joyful mastery

Level 07 — 07

Your Child Trusts Their Body

Movement feels familiar. Adjustments happen naturally. A climb becomes an invitation. A rope, a balance beam, a wave, or a swinging branch becomes something to explore — not because it has been taught, but because the foundations are already there.

Climbing, swimming, dancing, surfing, exploring outdoors

Each new experience builds on what is already known

Confidence, coordination and courage — established through shared moments
