But parenting can sometimes leave you wondering:
Am I doing enough?
What should I be doing at this stage?
What actually matters most?
Am I missing something important?
How can I support my child's development without turning every day into a lesson?
There is so much information available to parents.
And yet, more information doesn't always create more confidence.
Sometimes it creates more pressure.
Magnificent Parent was created to offer something different.
Long before formal education begins, your child is discovering an extraordinary world — through sound, sight, touch, movement, language, relationships and experience.
You don't need to turn childhood into school.
Magnificent Parent helps you understand how your child's development unfolds, how to recognise when your child is ready for new opportunities, and how ordinary moments of family life can become joyful opportunities for learning.
Starting from birth, you'll discover how to have fun together, what games and experiences to introduce, and when to introduce them — so that learning becomes a natural part of your child's play, development and loving enjoyment of life.

A child who feels safe, understood, and connected is better equipped to:
Think clearly
Feel deeply
Choose well
Relate kindly
Face Challenges
Live with purpose
“Every newborn child is born with magnificent potential. Given the right environment, that potential can blossom into giftedness, confidence, love, and joy.”
Peter Rowan / Magnificent Parent
Children do not develop in isolated parts. Language, movement, perception, and understanding grow together — each influencing and strengthening the others.

Listening, rhythm, sound awareness, and the emotional connection created through voice and music.

The development of seeing, observing, focusing, and making sense of the visual world.

Listening, rhythm, sound awareness, and the emotional connection created through voice and music.

Movement, coordination, and the ability to explore and understand the world through touch and action.

Sensory awareness, connection, and understanding through physical contact and feeling.

Listening, rhythm, sound awareness, and the emotional connection created through voice and music.

Growth of movement — from early exploration to confident, coordinated physical activity.
Seven developmental threads. Across seven levels of growth.
A pathway that unfolds beautifully at home and beyond, supporting your child in becoming who they are meant to be.

Every child is developing in many wonderful ways at once. The Magnificent Parent Journey helps parents understand how these different parts of development fit together—and how simple, loving opportunities can help their child flourish.
A child's development is like a tapestry. Movement, balance, touch, vision, hearing, music, speech and the use of the hands do not develop in isolation. They interact. They connect. They support one another. Together, they become the child's growing abilities to explore, understand, communicate, learn and enjoy life.
The Seven Developmental Threads weave their way through the Seven Levels of Growth, following nature's pathway of development and each child's own desire and ability to learn.

The Developmental Tapestry helps you see your child's development as a connected whole rather than a confusing collection of milestones to worry about.
As you progress through the Magnificent Parent Journey, the deeper structure gradually becomes clear. Through love, play, joyful games and everyday family experiences, Magnificent Parents provide opportunities for their children to develop, discover and learn naturally.
You don't need to make childhood into a classroom. You become more aware of the opportunities already surrounding your child—and learn how to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary opportunities for development, learning and joy.
Seven Threads. Seven Levels. One Magnificent Journey—woven with love and enjoyed together.

The flagship learning programme and starting point within the Journey.

Imagine having a clearer understanding of:
What your child is developing... When different aspects of development are emerging... What you can do to support them... And why those everyday experiences matter. Not through pressure. Not through trying to become a perfect parent. But through understanding, connection and joyful interaction.
Seven threads × seven levels = 49 points of guided development, aligned with your child's stage of growth.
Simple, engaging games and shared moments woven naturally into everyday family life.

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.”
Kahlil Gibran
father, educator and author of Magnificent Parent.
Magnificent Parent grew from a question that has occupied much of my life:
For me, that question became intensely practical when I became a father.
I was fortunate to be a full-time parent during my daughter Adelaide's early years. Together with her mother, I educated Adelaide almost entirely outside the conventional school system for her first twelve years. Rather than trying to fit her development into a predetermined mould, we sought to surround her with love, conversation, music, movement, books, nature, interesting people, travel, meaningful experiences and opportunities to explore whatever awakened her curiosity.

I came to understand something that now lies at the heart of Magnificent Parent:
Children are naturally curious and extraordinarily capable of learning. I believe every child has their own unfolding pathway of development — what I call their Own Magnificent Self Development and Education Program, or OMSDEP.
Parents do not have to control that journey. We can become its loving facilitators, guides and guardians — observing, understanding and providing wonderful opportunities at the times our child is ready for them. This principle runs throughout my books and the Magnificent Parent Course.
Her childhood became an extraordinary adventure.
From an early age she explored music, singing, acting, dancing, animals, nature, travel and practical work. She performed leading roles in musical theatre, modelled, worked with animals in Singapore and Egypt, studied orangutan rehabilitation in Borneo, acted in India, and began working in veterinary practices while still remarkably young.
As she grew older, her interests continued to expand. She worked professionally in modelling and dance, including Australia's Next Top Model, while pursuing very different intellectual and professional interests. She ultimately graduated from university with a double degree in Law and Environmental Science.
I don't tell Adelaide's story because I believe every child should follow her path. Quite the opposite.
I tell it because every child's path can be different.

What mattered was not producing a particular collection of achievements. It was preserving and nourishing curiosity, confidence, capability, independence, joy in learning and the freedom to discover who she was. My published Magnificent Parent material describes this approach as trusting children's natural curiosity and creating the environment and opportunities in which their abilities can develop.
My own life has taken me through education, business, building, environmental work, media and extensive travel. I have taught in schools and further education, served on the Academic Board of an Australian College of Advanced Education, worked in educational and children's media, and taken education about the natural world into schools.
Those experiences have reinforced something I learned most powerfully as a parent: education is much bigger than schooling.
A child is learning from birth — through what they hear, see, touch and do; through movement and language; through play and exploration; through relationships; and, above all, through the quality of the loving human environment surrounding them.
That is why Magnificent Parent is not about pushing children to achieve earlier or turning childhood into school.
It is about helping parents understand what they can do, when they can do it, why it matters — and how much fun parent and child can have doing it together.
I believe the way we love, nurture and educate our children reaches far beyond our own families.
When we help children grow with love, confidence, curiosity, independent thought, compassion and a deep enjoyment of life, we are also contributing to the kind of adults they may become — and therefore to the society and world they will eventually help create.
One of the thoughts I expressed in my books captures this simply:

That is ultimately why I created Magnificent Parent.
I want to place into the hands of parents the best knowledge and experience I can offer, so that they can understand their children more deeply, enjoy them more completely, and provide extraordinary opportunities for development without losing the love, freedom, play and wonder that should belong to childhood.
If Magnificent Parent helps more children experience happy and loving childhoods, helps more parents experience the extraordinary joy that can come from raising them, and in some small way helps those children grow into adults who make our world a happier, wiser and more humane place, then this work will have achieved what I intended it to do.

Parents trust us because they see real progress in their children. From stronger social skills to improved confidence and a genuine love for learning, here’s what families have to share.

A Joyful Family Learning Experience
“Each day of family life was made so much more enriching and enjoyable.”
“Thank you so very much Peter Rowan for opening the doors of child development and education to two parents who were able to more clearly see how we would give our baby the best of opportunities in life to become a fully competent and happy adult.
Now in his 30’s, he is a successful, loving and highly intelligent adult who is well adjusted to living in society. Although he came late to the program — at eight months old — he was reading fluently by eighteen months old and his enthusiasm to read, learn and joyfully experience life never stopped.
Our family life was enhanced and the educational and developmental program was fun for us all. Each day of family life was made so much more enriching and enjoyable.”

A Joyful Family Learning Experience
“I have watched the flourishing of Peter Rowan’s daughter through her carefully considered education.”
“As an experienced educator of children and children's teachers, I have watched the flourishing of Peter Rowan's daughter through her carefully considered, non-conventional education.
The intention of her education was to encourage wide-ranging interests as a means of developing her innate capabilities.
At the same time she learned respect, consideration and community-mindedness.
Now an adult, she is living a successful, productive and fulfilling life.
This book, Magnificent Parent, elucidates the author's values, ideas and methods of education, and is a valuable adjunct for any parent pursuing an enriched education for their child.”

Curiosity and Love of Learning That Lasts
“I have maintained my enthusiasm and curiosity for reading and learning from the youngest age.”
“Thanks to Peter, I am a well-adjusted, handsome, intelligent, competent and humble adult who has maintained my enthusiasm and curiosity for reading and learning instilled in me from the youngest age.
Thank you for making my life a success, Mr Rowan!”

“Peter Rowan’s advice is both technically correct and experientially wise.”
“As well as stressing the need for joyful learning experiences Peter Rowan emphasises the need for multisensory experiences. These points cannot be over-emphasised.
Too many parents, hoping to be excellent in their parenting, fall into the trap of loading learning with anxiety and focussing it too directly on the verbal and academic.
In the early years there is so much on every front for children to learn.
Peter Rowan’s advice is both technically correct and experientially wise.
He emphasises the interrelatedness of the emotional and physical aspects of development with cognitive (intellectual) development.”
